MEMBERS of a Rotary club would like to thank everyone who attended their 80s night last month.

The evening was hosted by Silloth Rotary Club at Silloth Rugby Club and raised more than £300.

The event which was held on March 16 and cost £7 for a ticket. Local band Rue and the Rockets played, as well as Anthony and David Eland entertaining people with their disco.

Denise Pattinson, Sue Brown and Jenni Reed organised the event.

Sue Brown, a member of the rotary club, said: “All being members of Silloth Rotary Club, we wanted to raise awareness of the charities local and far we help raise money for each year.

“A total of £370 was raised on the evening. The following day we received many messages thanking us for a wonderful evening, a fabulous night was clearly had by all.”

The money raised at the event will now go towards the work the Rotary club has planned for Silloth. The club is also hosting an Easter egg hunt on Sunday.

Between 12pm and 3pm at Silloth Fair - by the lifeboat station - people can pay £3 to take part. Each person will receive an Easter egg for entering, the hunt is sponsored by Fletcher’s Amusements and Wilmots Amusements.
