A PERMANENT cafe is returning to Silecroft for the first time in more than half a century.
Black Combe: Whicham Community Interest Company (CIC) has been provided £450,000 funding for the development at the beachfront.
Working alongside Copeland Borough Council, the CIC won the money via the government’s Coastal Fund, which will allow the first stages of the Silecroft development.
The cafe will replace the two on-site 30ft by 10ft cabins.
CIC chairman Robert Morris-Eyton said: “We’re currently at the design and consent stage.
“We plan to have the community project completed by 2020."
