A NEW campaign aims to help people who are considering suicide.

Shining a Light on Suicide is a scheme run by the Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO) and backed by Bolton Council which launched this week.

The campaign is aiming to help people who are struggling with thoughts about taking their own lives or those who have been bereaved by suicide.

It includes links to useful contacts such as the Samaritans and NHS groups as well as information on how you can "save a life" by becoming involved with a support organisation.

There is also a "Safety Plan" option which provides an interactive guide to help people get through particularly troubling times by working with activities that help to distract them or lift their mood.
