A CLOSED caravan and camping shop in Coniston has won permission to be turned into a cafe and hot food take away.
The proposal for the former Nicholson Outdoors business on Tilberthwaite Avenue, was agreed by planners at the Lake District National Park Authority.
The application for the pizza business was made on behalf of Artur Majda, from Kendal, and did not attract any objections.
Jackie Ratcliffe, an area planner for the LDNPA, said in her report: “Should the method of cooking change in the future resulting in nuisance from
odour or noise then this would be a matter for the environmental protection team at South Lakeland District Council.”
Coniston Parish Council had no objections but suggested a restriction in the opening hours and pointed out a lack of provision for waste.
Ms Ratcliffe said a restriction was not necessary, as the business was in a “central shopping area” covered by environmental health legislation.
“With regard to a bin storage area, I intend to impose a condition requiring the location of this to be agreed and thereafter maintained for use.”
The application was granted with four conditions.
