A NEWLY appointed envoy for Bangladesh got the seal of approval from Wiltshire Police and Swindon's Mayor this week.

Saida Muna Tasneem was officially handed her title as the new High Commissioner for Bangladesh on Wednesday.

After getting her credentials from the Queen she was met by Angus Macpherson, the police and crime commissioner for Wiltshire after being invited by the Mayor of Swindon Junab Ali, who has Bangladeshi heritage.

The Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire Sarah Rose Troughton joined the Wiltshire party and other dignitaries at St James' Court Hotel following the ceremony to get the credentials, known as a letter of credence.

Commenting Angus Macpherson said: "Amongst the pomp and ceremony of Wednesday was a very important seal made between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh.

"I was invited after the High Commissioner recently visited Swindon due to Junab being the first ever Bangladeshi mayor for Swindon.

"I was absolutely delighted to have been part of this wonderful day and occasion; it was something very special, a one off in life experience."
