A SCOUTS group is celebrating a super first few weeks of their latest adventure.

1st Wigton Baden-Powell Scouts have opened a charity shop in the old Hopes Estate Agents, Wigton, to sell donated items to raise funds.

Group leader Julie Bryceson said: “It’s something we first talked about over a year ago but we had to find a suitable shop, gain the necessary permissions and sort out insurance.

“However, Hopes has been extremely helpful and we opened on April 23, our 21st Birthday.”

The Scouts have been busy cleaning the shop, giving it a fresh coat of paint and sorting stock. The shop will be open six days a week for five weeks, manned by parents and friends.

The Scouts are keen to raise their profile in the town and show that they are prepared to work hard to raise funds for all that they want to do.

They hope people will support them by popping into the shop.
