The emergency services are dealing with a crash involving two vehicles on a main road near Penrith.
The collision has happened on the A592 and is said to be near Dalemain House, in between Rheged and Pooley Bridge.
No details on what type of vehicles are involved or the severity of the incident have been released by Cumbria Police at this stage.
However, a spokesperson for the force, said the road is closed in both directions between the A66 Rheged roundabout and the Dacre turn-off.
"Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes," they added.
There is said to be slow traffic in the area.
