The programme for this year’s Upperby Gala has been revealed .

This year’s event, organised by Carlisle City Council at Hammond’s Pond, will take a place on Monday, May 27. It’s being billed as a “great family day out” with entertainment to “suit all ages”.

Visitors will be encouraged to bring and share a picnic and be part of a community Big Lunch, supported by the Friends of Hammond’s Pond. The Big Lunch brings millions of people together across the UK to share food and fun on the first weekend in June. People are the key ingredient, and everyone is invited because great things happen when we meet and chat over a bite to eat.

The free event will run between 1pm and 4pm.

The programme will include performances by Carlisle Dance Academy, the Bjamba Band, the Cumberland Hotshots, the Maniax family comedy show, the Big Fun Bus and the Fairly Famous Family will go Football Crazy.

There will also be a vintage vehicle display and hands on activities from Carlisle College and Tullie House.

Local charity stalls will be in place and there will be chance to sample sports activities and taster yoga sessions.

Other activities include children’s entertainers, a fun fair, an owl magic display, a model railway, face painters, balloon modelling, Police, Fire Service and Army Careers, plus a Fun Dog Show organised by Cumbria Pride.

Food stalls will be providing refreshments throughout the event.
