Opinions were asked for on the home for the tank which is to be presented to Kendal. Mr Baron suggested that the oval in front of the town’s museum might be suitable.
50 YEARS AGO - 1969
Kendal Town Council gave approval on Tuesday to an outline scheme to provide a £150,000 multi-storey car park for 500 vehicles in the Stricklandgate development area, although members were warned that the park could mean an extra 2d. or 3d. on the rates.
25 YEARS AGO - 1994
The six-year dispute over the future of the former Ambleside bus station is no clearer to being resolved after planners yesterday threw out the latest application by Dimples Estates to turn the site into a shopping complex.
