A MAN has appeared in court accused of threatening to ignite a gas supply in Barrow.

Michael Haldon denied two charges levelled against him which arose out of an alleged incident on Greenhill Close, Ormsgill, on May 7.

Appearing at South Cumbria Magistrates Court, Mr Haldon, who lives on the street, denied using towards police, firefighters, paramedics and residents threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause people to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used.

The 25-year-old also pleaded not guilty to causing a nuisance to the public by threatening to cause a fire through igniting his gas supply, causing residents to be evacuated from a communal black, and throwing items at people outside the address.

Mr Haldon has also been charged with stalking Yasmin O’Connell between January 1 and May 7 2019.

He is accused of causing her serious alarm or distress by playing loud music persistently, posting notes through her door, throwing objects towards her house and making threats towards her.

Mr Haldon will next appear at Preston Crown Court on June 7 as a trial into the alleged offences gets underway.
