A driver has been banned from the roads for a year after failing to comply with a drugs test.

Michael William Moore, 29, of Irving Street, Workington, appeared before District Judge Gerald Chalk at West Cumbria Magistrates' Court.

The court heard that, on April 21 in Workington, Moore failed, without reasonable excuse, to comply with a saliva drugs test as required under the Road Traffic Act 1988.

He also admitted failing to wear a seatbelt, and wilfully obstructing a police constable in the execution of his duty.

He was given a 12-month driving ban and ordered to pay £200 in fines, £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.
