A suspected drink driver cheated death when he flipped a car over a parked vehicle and missed a house by a matter of inches.

Dramatic pictures of the scene show the black car resting almost vertically after the smash in the early hours.

Police and firefighters dashed to the Walsall address at 12.45am after the homeowners dialled 999.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has since been released.

Two occupants from the house were assessed by paramedics but discharged at the scene.

Two others cars were damaged in the incident.

A police spokesman said: "Police are investigating after a car hit a house just before 1am.

"Fortunately there were no injuries and a 21-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, has been released while enquiries continue."

Two fire engines and 10 firefighters were scrambled to the scene.

A Fire Service spokesman said: "Our crews assessed the building for structural damage and fortunately there didn't appear to be any damage.

"There were two other vehicles damaged in the incident."
