Police are dealing with a four-vehicle crash on the A595.
The northbound carriageway of the Distington bypass was closed between Howgate and Distington in the area where roadworks are taking place.
The collision happened at about 4pm.
Police said the road is now open but may have to be temporarily closed to allow recovery to take place.
No one was believed to be seriously injured.
