AN ULVERSTON police crackdown on motorists using their phones at the wheel saw eight drivers pulled over in 90 minutes, Ulverston Town Council heard this week.
The operation on the A590 stretch to Swarthmoor resulted in five drivers being issued with £200 fines and penalty points. Ulverston mayor Cllr Sharon Webster said she hoped people would "think twice" before risking lives.
