FOUR Cockermouth groups have been boosted by a local fund.
The Cockermouth and Papcastle Recreational Trust provides grants for the provision of recreation or leisure facilities.
The following town groups applied for funding and were successful: Festivals Group £400; Heritage Group £180; Junior Football Group £600 and Rugby Union Football Club £350.
Eric Apperley has been with the trust for 25 years - including the last 15 as chairman - and will be stepping down in October.
Councillor Alan Smith has been elected as chairman.
