Firms offering specialist consultancy services interested in bidding for local authority work are being invited to an exclusive supplier engagement event.

Procurement portal Bloom and South Lakeland District Council are hosting the event on Monday July 8 at Kendal Town Hall from 10am to noon.

This is an opportunity for both existing suppliers and those interested in learning more about working with Bloom and the authority.

Over 300 public sector organisations buy professional services through Bloom across 19 different categories and 240 sub-categories. This event will give practical tips on how to win these tenders both regionally and nationally, organisers said.

There will also have the opportunity to hear from representatives from South Lakeland District Council.

Councillor Andrew Jarvis, SLDC’s portfolio holder for finance and resources, said: “Supporting simple, open and transparent procurement processes is a crucial part of maintaining South Lakeland District Council's efficient service delivery to residents and we are keen for as many businesses in our district to be a part of that. It is good for us and has obvious benefits for businesses in our district who have the opportunity to bid for work with us and many other local authorities.

“I would urge anybody interested in finding out more about local authority procurement to sign up for this event.”
