Members of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team past and present turned out over to honour two colleagues who were killed during a training exercise 50 years ago.
On June 15, 1969 the team faces the most tragic event in its history when there was an unprecedented rock fall at Low Crag, Buttermere, where the team was practising.
Team member John 'Jock' Thompson was killed in the incident, at about 12.30pm, and a second, Michael Stephenson, died of his injuries the following day.
On Saturday, team members past and present gathered with family and friends at Low Crag for a short remembrance service and to lay a wreath for those who lost their lives.
