Maryport is gearing up for a weekend of live music.

Maryport Live has been organised by local musicians and publicans to replace the Blues Festival.

Six town centre venues, including pubs and clubs, and the Maryport Bowling Club off Mealpot Road, will all take part in the event from July 25 to 27.

As the name suggests, there will be live music from some of the area’s most popular musicians.

Entry to all the events will be free.

The official venues are Maryport Navy Club, the Labour Club, Netherhall Old Boys in Crosby Street and the Bowling Club. The pubs taking part are The Lifeboat, Sailors’ Return, and the Phoenix Tap,

Groups and artists include Broken English, the Mustanz, Dean Newton Trio, Mama Sang and the Robot, AWOL, Stevie D and more.

The event kicks off in the Navy Club and Labour Club on the Thursday night with appearances by Five and Dangerous and the Prowles.
