BUTTERMERE has been voted the top place for a picnic in a new poll.
Flora carried out research into the best picnic areas in the UK, and the Lake District beauty spot came out top with nine per cent of the vote.
Saint Herbert’s Island in Derwentwater, Keswick, also came in the top 20.
The survey says that 60 per cent of Brits are now making a conscious effort to upgrade their picnic with 24 percent of picnickers now make their own quiche, and 21 percent will even bake a honey coated ham to impress fellow diners.
Sausage rolls, scotch eggs and pork pies fall out of favour as one in 10 make an effort to offer vegan alternatives. Flora peeked into the baskets of the nation to mark the start of summer and National Picnic Week. Brits have nearly six picnics in summer.
