TOURISM revenue in Eden rose more than anywhere else in Cumbria, figures for 2017 to 2018 show.
Businesses in the district saw a 8.6 per cent increase in revenue - the biggest percentage increase in the county.
In total, Eden had more than five million visitors over that period, and tourism activity supported 4,639 full time equivalent jobs in 2018 - an increase of 3.7 per cent.
The statistics come from the Scarborough Tourism Economic Activity Monitor.
Mary Robinson, Eden council's deputy leader, said: "We are delighted that tourism continues to grow in value and make such a substantial contribution to our economy."
Jim Walker, of the Eden Tourism Network, added: "This latest research is a brilliant endorsement of partnership working in Eden between public and private sector tourism operators."
