Nurse Cadet students at Lakes College donned their aprons and took part in Alzheimer’s Society’s Cupcake Day baking and selling their creations to help raise money for the charity.

In the average time it takes to bake a batch of cakes, six people in the UK will develop dementia. It is now the leading cause of death in England and Wales, overtaking both cancer and heart disease.

The Nurse Cadets chose to support the event baking and decorating a range of treats selling them to fellow students and members of the college team and offering games including guess the weight of the cake.

They raised £230 for the Alzheimer’s Society to help fund pioneering research, support services and care.
