Workington MP Sue Hayman has raised more than £1,000 for charity after a mammoth hike.

Sue and her husband Ross raised the cash for the MS Society by undertaking a 16 mile 10-in-10 Challenge, a charity fell walk, last Saturday.

They hiked 10 Cumbrian fells in 10 hours, raising money for much-needed research into Multiple Sclerosis, which affects more than 100,000 people in the UK.

Together, they raised £1,011.81, including a donation from Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and Sue’s colleagues in the Labour Shadow Cabinet.

Sue said: “I’m proud to have been able to raise more than £1,000 for the MS Society, which is double our fundraising target.

"It was a hot day, but Ross and I tackled the 10 peaks from Newlands to Buttermere and back.

“Thank you to everyone who supported us, and well done to everyone who took part in the challenge on Saturday alongside us.”

You can donate to the MS Society through Sue’s JustGiving page.
