A man has been given a restraining order for harassing his ex-partner.
Richard Paul Grearson, 34, of Everest Mount, Workington, pleaded guilty to harassment without violence when he appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates' Court on Friday.
The court heard Grearson had sent offensive messages via Whatsapp to his ex-girlfriend. His victim had also received offensive letters through her door.
Rachel Ottley, defending, said: "He accepted they were offensive. He was very regretful and remorseful for what he had said.
"He has also had messages and comments made to him."
Grearson was given a restraining order, banning him from contacting his ex-partner for two years.
He was also given a 12-month community order and must complete 90 hours of unpaid work.
Grearson was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge to fund victim services.
