A CLEANING services business has moved premises and expanded in the process.

Orian Property Services in Wigton has moved from its former home at the bus station to the old Hopes auction mart offices.

The business has two bases, one in the south of the county and one in the north. The team in Wigton made the move to its new premises on June 1.

In 2016 it began with five cottages that it cleaned and it is now up to 127 with this expected to rise to more than 200 by next year.

The main services it offers are holiday let cleaning which includes laundry, a full turn around and managing the whole property for a client. It also offers domestic and commercial cleaning.

Kim Mattinson, manager, said: “The move was intense. We couldn’t shut the other business down while we moved. The move had to happen while the business was sill functioning so it happened over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday to where we are now.

“We had the building two weeks before to start doing things but couldn’t actually move bedding and machines until over the weekend.”

An important aspect of the business for Kim is keeping things as local as possible.

She explained: “What’s really important for me is that we’ve used a lot of local guys and companies.

“For me it’s not about being commercialised for anything, it’s about keeping everything local and keeping everything personal.

“I was born and bred in Wigton and I want to keep everything as local as possible.

“You see so many businesses closing down and I just think you should support your locals. We have 42 staff and they’re all local.”

When Orian Property Services took over the business from Vera Sant in 2016 they knew they would need to find a new premises.

Andy Chant, finance director, said: “Trying to find somewhere in Wigton has been tricky.

“This building is perfect for a mixed use like we’ve got. We have the training room, boardroom and then services down stairs.

“We’re absolutely chuffed to bits. We’re still in the town and have lots of room to expand.

“We just want to ride the crest of the wave.”
