The show promoters of the Madness concert planned for Bitts Park have confirmed that the show will now take place at The Sands Centre.

A statement from SSD Concerts released yesterday confirmed the news, it said: “Due to circumstances beyond the control of the artist and promoter, this show can no longer take place at Bitts Park Carlisle.

“We are pleased to announce an alternative venue has been arranged and the show will now take place nearby at The Sands Centre.”

All tickets remain valid and the line up remains the same, confirmed the organisers.

The Bootleg Beatles, Chris Difford, Cattle & Cane and Hardwicke Circus will be supporting the band at the concert on July 21.

It is the second time a change has been made to the show, after it was originally scheduled to take place on June 9.

The announcement to delay the gig was made in April. On this occasion an email was sent out by Ticketline to those who had purchased tickets.

It said: “Due to circumstances beyond the control of the artist and promoter, Madness live from Bitts Park will now take place on Sunday July 21, 2019.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and if anyone cannot make the rescheduled date, tickets can be refunded from point of purchase. All other tickets remain valid.”

Many took to the News & Star Facebook page to respond to the news. Darren Gibson commented: “Looks like the rain won’t be a problem in a bizarre turn of events.”

Ste Hastings posted: “Most places now book two-three different bands/acts over a stretch of days, so the stage is up and the cost is split.

“Just not viable for one night really.”

Paul McGuirk echoed a similar view. He said: “Easier than erecting/taking down a fence/stage and employing security for a one-night event I suppose.”

Also commenting on the page, Linda Bell said: “Just reading that, not happy. Didn’t pay for The Sands.”

Matt Green posted: “Yeah, had the update on event page. Joke really, at least we won’t need ponchos.”

The band are said to be looking forward to the show and only a handful of tickets remain available from Ticketline at http://bit.ly/Madness-Carlisle.

Tickets are priced at £49.50 for adults, £22 for children aged between 11 and 15, £11 for children aged between six and 10 and free for children younger than five.
