A MAN who has repeatedly flouted a court order by visiting his mum’s Workington home is back in hot water.

James Walter MacDonald, 33, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court. He admitted twice breaching a restraining order, imposed by magistrates last March, by attending his mother’s address on West View Walk.

MacDonald went to the property on successive days - April 23 and 24 - despite him being prohibited from doing so.

No details of what believed to be a fifth order breach were given during the hearing. This was adjourned after Recorder Michael Blakey concluded he needed the probation service to gather background information.

He expressed worries, noting an element of MacDonald’s criminal conduct in April amounted to “threatening to smash somebody’s head in with a hammer” and a vow to “smash her face in”.

“These are things which are rather concerning in relation to the future proceedings in this case,” he said. “I simply want to know more about him.”

One of MacDonald’s previous breaches occurred when he attended his mother’s address for lunch on Boxing Day, 2018.

“The defendant was arrested,” a prosecutor had told a magistrates’ court hearing. “He indicated he had been called by a member of the family. He was asked to attend to get his dinner.

However, police were tipped off by another relative of MacDonald’s with whom he did not get on. He later admitted what, at that time, was a fourth breach.

MacDonald, of Harrington Road, Workington, is due to be sentenced for his latest offending today. He was remanded in custody, and told by Recorder Blakey: “The most likely outcome is that you are going to be sent to prison - the question is how long.”
