Youngsters of Lamplugh School have completed their training, and become proud Young Leaders.

The Key Stage One group were pleased to take part in the initiative run by Archbishop of York Youth Trust, who encourage everyone to “be the change you want to see.”

The team of eight had fun completing the four modules necessary to receive their Young Leaders Award, which aim to teach children key leadership skills, and build habits of helping others.

Pupils Ted Donohoe, Adam Fearon, Elizabeth McLaughlin, Daniel Walker, Harry Daglish, Scarlett Lee, Holly Graham, Amelia Burney were all tasked with exploring the subjects of kindness, perseverance, teamwork, and action.

The children chose to complete a wet and windy, but still successful, beach clean at St Bees for their action module.

Teacher Susan Rudd was proud of the dedicated pupils, and said: “They have gained a real sense of community spirit whilst working towards this award.”
