THE overwhelming majority of pupils at Dalston’s Caldew School will be able to attend their first choice university.

Headteacher Vicki Jackson said: “I would like to congratulate all our students on achieving excellent results again this year.

“They have worked incredibly hard over the last two years and have shown a real determination to succeed.

“I would also like to thank all the teachers and support staff at Caldew School for their hard work and commitment that has helped our students be so successful and to parents and carers who have worked with us in supporting their children.”

Among those picking up results was Megan Busby who achieved an A, C and E and will take up a place at Sheffield Hallam University to study Criminology and Psychology.

She said: “I thought I’d failed biology but I am frustrated.

“I would have rather failed biology and got a better grade in another subject.”

Megan was given an unconditional offer from the university which took some of the pressure off during her exams.

Karl Edwards from Wigton is nervous about starting Lancaster University later this year, where he will study maths.
