A hate crime that took place yesterday in Carlisle is under police investigation.
Cumbria Police is looking for anyone who witnessed the offence, which took place at 5am on Wednesday morning, on Fusehill Street close to the city centre.
A police spokesman said: "The victim, a man in his twenties, was walking along the street when a man approached him from behind and began shouting at him, using racially abusive language.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 2645 on 101, email 101@cumbria.police.uk, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting log 170 of August 14."
