A Flimby woman will be cover girl on a national magazine this year.

Demi-Jade Markham, the 26-year old travel agent from Flimby will grace the cover of Travel Weekly, the travel industry magazine sold throughout the country.

Demi admits she had no option but to enter the competition to find a cover girl when she found that the photo shoot would be in Disney World, Florida.

“I think the word fanatic understates what a massive Disney fan I am. I love all things Walt Disney.”

In fact, she said, her fiance, Kieran McGee, even made sure he proposed to her at Disneyland, California, on the day of Walt Disney’s birthday.

“That was such a surprise and so exciting.”

Demi is assistant manager at Cumbria Travel in Carlisle. said: “We got information about the competition. As soon as we learned the shoot in at Disney World every one of my colleagues said I had to enter. I am so glad I did and so grateful to everyone who voted for me.”

This is not the only excitement this year. The photo shoot is in October but in September she will learn whether she has been named high street travel agent of the year after reaching the finals of another national competition.
