NOAH’S Ark, teddy bears and flamingos will all feature in a showcase of skills to support a church fund.

All Saint’s Church, at Allhallows near Fletchertown will be the venue for the exhibition entitled All Creatures Great and Small, which opens today.

The free open event will run until Monday from 10am until 5pm with a special concert by the Harlequin Choir tomorrow.

Organiser Gillian Marr said: “We thought we would have a fundraiser for the new toilets and kitchen which will help when we have baptisms.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the event. It’s going to be beautiful.

“There’s going to be a Noah’s Arch, a beehive, a teddy bear’s picnic, flamingos.

“The community have really stepped up to help out.”

As well as the exhibition of art there will be flowers and animals of the world, children’s games, a raffle, homemade food and teas and coffee.

Sandy Brown, church councillor, added: “Gillian was the one who thought of the idea. She has formed a group of church councillors and gifted festival/ flower arrangers to stage the exhibition. Following other successful exhibitions in the church we found them to be a great way of involving, developing and bringing the community together.

We have a beautiful butterfly collection that is historic.

“There is a War Horse-style head and a sheep that has been created - it looks so real it can be believed.

“There really is something for everyone.”

The Harlequin Choir, led by Claire Louise Gregson from Aspatria, are looking forward to performing at the exhibition tomorrow night.

They will perform from 7.30pm and tickets are £5.

Mrs Gregson said: “We are performing on the Saturday night.

“We are looking forward to singing there and doing a variety of songs, some of which are animal themed.”

The choir use the community centre to practice and have lots of local support.
