A DOCUMENTARY about a two-year Cockermouth community project will be shown next week.

The Viewpoint, about the project exploring the rivers of Cockermouth with artist and ecologist David Haley and Riversmeet, will be one of two films shown at the Kirkgate Centre's Green Film Festival.

The other film, about the climate crisis, is A Different Kind of Hope by Martin Gerrish and Anne Gerrity .

"The film looks directly into the heartbreaking reality of what is happening in order to begin a conversation about how we can best navigate this bio-apocalypse," said a spokesman.

"There will be a discussion with the filmmakers after the screening to explore further the issues raised.

"The events are pay what you feel with some delicious food provide by Wild Zucchini for people to share their views of the film topics and finish with a nibble and natter."

The films will be shown at 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 18.
