1.Ulverston’s favourite fiery festival takes place on Saturday. The theme this year is ‘Fantastical Beasts’ and the event promises to be as spectacular as the last. The Lantern Festival is an annual community event featuring a spectacular lantern procession through the streets of Ulverston.

2. The annual Ulverston Gardeners’ Society show will take place this Saturday. The event will be held at the Coronation Hall from 1pm. The show will include displays of fruit, vegetables and plants with the presentation of trophies at 4pm. Admission is £1 for adults and 25p for children. 3. The Barrow Society of Artists are continuing to exhibit their Autumn Showcase at The Dock Museum until October 20. The exhibition gives a close up view of local artistic talent and is free admission.

4. Barrow Raiders are holding their annual Family Fun Day at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium on Saturday featuring an exciting array of activities designed to introduce people to the benefits of being active and the thrill of being involved in sport. The day, which runs from 10am-3pm, features guest appearance from Raiders players including star forward Alec Susino, goal kicking competitions, tug of war, demonstrations and a host of hands-on activities.

5. Barrow Raiders is hosting a new venture called ¨RAIDER GIRLS¨. Sessions take place every Saturday between 11.30am-12.30pm. They will be inviting all girls aged eight years old up to 16 from all schools in the area to join together free of charge.

6.Dalton Castle will be open to the public every Saturday between 2pm - 5pm .While you’re there you can also take look at the George Romney exhibition that is housed in the Castle too. Free entry, donations welcome.

7. The Bluebirds take on Solihull Moors this Saturday with a 3pm kick off at the Progression Solicitors Stadium.
