Flash floods are creating waves of problems for motorists, following severe weather warnings from the Met Office.
The warning covers most of Cumbria, and has been in place from 4am until 10pm today.
Towns including Harrington (pictured) have been affected by the downpour, with drivers being delayed by excessive water on roads.
Drivers are being forced on to the wrong side of the road in attempts to avoid the flooding, as drains overflow and spill water across the streets.
The Met Office weather warning stated:
- Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life and some communities may be cut off by flooded roads
- Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible
- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
