A DRUNK reveller who went into a lady's toilet at a Carlisle nightclub reacted violently when confronted, attacking the doorman who challenged him.

Bradley Richard Cass, 24, who later said that he was so drunk on May 6 that he had no recollection of the night's events, put his victim into a headlock and punched him twice.

At the city's Rickergate court, the defendant, of Bothel, near Wigton, admitted an assault by beating.

The presiding magistrate told the defendant: "When you get so drunk that you can't even remember it, it puts a different light on it."

His lack of recall due to his drinking added to the gravity of the offence, as did his victim being a public servant. "He was only doing his job," said the magistrate. Cass was fined £425, with a £42 victim surcharge, and told to pay his victim £75 compensation.
