A pub has trotted into the limelight after winning two awards.

High Harrington pub The Galloping Horse have been named CAMRA's Pub of the Season, thanks to the great food and beer, as well as its presence at the heart of the community.

Following six months of renovations, the pub opened in 2017 and it has been put on the map for supporting a number of charities.

The caring team have provided Workington Red's under seven team with kits and equipment, donated a tramper to the Calvert Trust at Bassenthwaite, helping to get elderly and disabled people around the lake, and also donated £1,000 to Healthy Hopes Workington, supporting socially isolated and vulnerable people.

And when they aren't making donations, The Galloping Horse is welcoming families, holding parties and events for youngsters, including the upcoming Halloween get together that everyone can look forward to.

On top of their Pub of the Season win, the friendly team have been awarded the silver medal for Cumbria in Bloom, and with so many wins in the bag, it's no surprise that the pub is looking to expand.

The pub recently announced that it will be opening a restaurant in Whitehaven, spreading The Galloping Horse's lovely service across West Cumbria.
