PLANS to turn two vacant offices into a restaurant have been thrown out by the town hall.
The premises on St Helens Road previously occupied by a car rental company was set to become a restaurant or cafe but planners have refused to grant permission.
They said that the noise and increased activity around the premises would have a detrimental impact on the living conditions of nearby residents.
An extraction flue could also increase odours to the residential properties above the premises, planning officers decided.
