Police have been called to an accident at Whitehaven which has cut the power to a local theatre.
The ambulance service and several police vehicles are currently in attendance at the scene, just above the Rosehill Theatre and the road is closed at present.
The incident has seen damaged electricity cables causing the lights to go out at the theatre just after 9pm and a performance tonight cancelled.
Richard Elder, Rosehill, Theatre director, said: "The accident has brought the electricity wires down. We will try and reschedule but the most serious thing is the accident."
A police spokesman confirmed that emergency services were on the scene and that a pylon had been damaged in the incident.
Electricity North West are also sending out engineers.
