A man in his 30s is wanted by police after a sexual assault against a 16-year-old girl.

Officers are investigating the alleged assault, which they say took place on Aglionby Street in Carlisle between 10pm and 11pm on October 18.

A Cumbria Police spokeswoman said: "A male has approached a female and acted in an inappropriate way".

The spokeswoman confirmed he tried to kiss the girl.

The man responsible is described as white, in his late 30s, with short mousy brown hair, stubble and dark eyes.

The force believes he was wearing a white t-shirt and black cycling shorts.

Cumbria Police is appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

Witnesses should call 101 referencing log number 264 of October 18.
