A Workington man has been banned from the roads after pleading guilty to drug-driving.

Liam Friel, 26, of Cockfield Drive, was disqualified from driving for 20 months when he appeared before Workington magistrates.

The court heard Friel was driving a Seat Leon on April 22 on the A595 Long Mile road when the incident occurred.

He was found to have 488mcg per litre of blood of Benzoylecgonine, a cocaine body-breakdown product, the legal limit being 50.

He also had 20mcg per litre of blood of MDMA ecstasy, the legal limit being 10.

Friel must also carry out 60 hours of unpaid work and pay costs of £85 and an £85 victim surcharge.
