Workington Town have added a familiar face to their 2020 squad with the return of versatile back Gabe Fell.

Fell played 12 times for Town on loan from Super League club Wigan Warriors in 2017 under then-head coach Dave Clark, scoring nine tries, before making a permanent switch to Championship side Swinton.

He spent the 2018 season with the Lions, making 22 appearances.

Now he is back at Derwent Park and looking forward to the build-up to another League 1 promotion push with Town under head coach Chris Thorman.

Fell said: “I am very grateful for the opportunity that has been offered to me by Workington Town.

“After speaking to Chris and hearing his aspirations for the club it was a no-brainer for me.

“I loved my time at Town last time and I’m excited about meeting up with the lads and getting stuck into pre-season.

Thorman added: “I’ve known of Gabe for a good few years now.

“He’s a product of Wigan’s academy system and played in the same side as Caine Barnes and Dec O’Donnell.

“Full-back is probably the position he’s known for but he’s equally at home on the wing or in the halves and he provides a great deal of utility value.

“I’m excited to start working with him during pre-season and seeing how well he links up with the rest of the playing group.”
