Workington Town Council has teamed up with Washington Square Shopping Centre to bring a fun and festive trail to Workington.

The trail will run from November 18 to December 2 and involves 30 Christmas friends hidden in shop windows around Washington Square Shopping Centre.

Each Christmas friend has a name and the challenge is for people to find all 30 names and write them down on their trail sheet.

One winner will be picked at random and will win £50 to spend in The Entertainer and three runners-up, also picked at random, will receive a box of chocolates from Thorntons.

Trail sheets can be collected from The Entertainer and also returned there once completed. Look out for the special post box in store.

Chair of the town council’s culture committee, Coun Carole Armstrong, said: "We wanted to do some fun for the children, but also get people into the town centre and we hope this will go some way towards helping our shops during the busy festive period.

"Children will also be able to look out for the Christmas friends during our Christmas festival and light switch-on, on November 30."

Thanks went out to children from Ashfield Infant and Nursery School for decorating the Christmas friends and providing their names.

Trail sheets can also be collected and handed back into the Town Hall, Oxford Street, Workington.
