Northside is to hold its own Christmas celebrations after a resident managed to secure a tree for the community.
Beth Dixon, 35, managed to secure a Christmas tree for the estate with help from her mother, county councillor for the area Celia Tibble.
Mrs Dixon, a mother-of-two, is also a town councillor for Northside.
She said: “We managed to get a 12-foot tree, which will be donated by the National Trust. It’s going to be outside the community centre.
“We’re a community and people often feel like we are the forgotten bit of Workington.”
Residents are invited to see the decorated tree on Thursday at 5.30pm and join in carol singing.
People can sponsor a bauble for £2 and any profits go towards a children’s Christmas party at the community centre on December 19, with a disco and party games.
Tickets for the Christmas party cost £1 and are available from the community centre.
