A 33-YEAR-OLD woman who was found to have crack cocaine and spice concealed in her bra in Barrow was sentenced to 10 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) days to help her get her life “back on track”.
Furness Magistrates’ Court heard how Vicky Louise Arts, of no fixed address, had on her possession levels of the drugs “compatible with personal use.” She pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled Class A drug and possession of a controlled Class B drug.
In mitigation, Elizabeth Phizacklea, of Denby & Co. Solicitors, said the defendant had told her she struggled with anxiety and depression, but was taking steps to address the issue, having had an assessment with a mental health outreach service and having a follow-up appointment lined up. Probation officer Brian Carruthers said Miss Arts had also been attending appointments with a drug and alcohol recovery service.
Miss Arts, who was on licence for a separate offence until October 2021, was sentenced to a 12-month community order as well as 10 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) days. Chairman Chris Harris said magistrates were “very close to imposing” a suspended sentence.
