Two people have been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a man had his car stolen in Maryport.
Police were called at 6.45am today to a report of a man being the victim of a robbery inside an address in Eaglesfield Street where a man and a woman took his car keys and stole his car – a Renault Clio.
The car was recovered shortly after 8am, abandoned, in the vicinity of the Roman Museum in the town.
A 32-year-old woman was arrested nearby in The Promenade.
She is currently in police custody having been arrested on suspicion of burglary, robbery and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
A police helicopter was called in to assist in the search and a 32-year-old man was also subsequently arrested in a nearby field.
He is in police custody having been arrested on suspicion of robbery and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
