A HOUSE roof has been severely damaged after a tree fell over in high winds.
Emergency services were called out at just before 12.40pm on Tuesday to Stockton Road in Castle Eden, near Peterlee.
A large part of the roof of a residential property was damaged by the falling tree.
A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to an incident where a large beech tree had fallen onto the roof of a property in the Castle Eden area due to high winds.
“This caused extensive damage to the property but there was no injuries reported.
“A crew from Peterlee attended and on arrival called a structural engineer to make sure the property was safe.
“The electrical board was also called to assess the damage to the property and electrical lines. Then all utilities were isolated by our fire service personnel.”
