A man who was hit by a car on the A595 is still in a serious condition.
The 26-year-old from Whitehaven was struck by a Mercedes at around 2am on New Year's Day.
Cumbria Police say the man's condition is serious but stable.
The collision happened on the A595 near to Parton Brow in the early hours of Wednesday.
The driver of the black car, a man in his sixties from Whitehaven, waited for emergency services and was not arrested.
The injured man was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary.
The road was closed while the recovery of the vehicle took place and reopened at around 6.30am.
