All who were rescued from the sea in 2019 have thanked Workington RNLI, and now the team wish to thank them all right back.

The group of volunteer life savers has raised hundreds throughout the year through various fundraisers, including lunches, coffee mornings and, most recently, a Christmas Carol Quiz.

The festive afternoon saw £320 raised for the crew, with a £30 Argos voucher handed to the winner.

Lifeboats, flood vans and RNLI volunteers together provide a priceless service, saving lives in dangerous and often scary situations.

And as the financial cost for the team is so high, each and every donation to the team goes towards vital equipment and uniforms, including helmets, drysuits, lifejackets, and more, as well as operating flood vans.

On top of the necessary equipment, the crew's Inshore Lifeboat, the John F Mortimer, and Shannon Class Lifeboat, the Dorothy May White, are also maintained by all funds raised.

And so to top off the year and begin 2020 on a heartfelt note, Workington RNLI have shared their thanks.

Workington RNLI Fundraiser Chairman, Catherine Courtney said: “We would like to thank the kind and generous people of West Cumbria for their continued support throughout 2019.

“Fundraising supports the lifeboat and crew of Workington in their role in saving lives at sea, and we wish you all a prosperous and safe New Year.”
