Keswick School Kids' Lit Quiz team are stepping up their sponsorship campaign to try and raise money to transport them to New Zealand to represent the UK in July.

Year 8 pupils William Harrison, of Threlkeld, Niamh McMullin of Eaglesfield, plus Greysouthen’s Bertie Cook and Adrian Megan won the National Final of the Kids’ Lit Quiz at London in December, becoming UK champions and they get to represent the UK later in the year in an international competition.

The school is trying to raise sponsorship from local businesses and individuals to pay towards transport costs for the pupils to get to the World Final.

Keswick School English Teacher and Librarian Helen Robinson said: "There will be ongoing publicity surrounding the trip, particularly in the build up to their departure from the UK in early July 2020. "Once we have taken part, we will be writing a full account of our experience, plus photographs.

"This will be used in local press and will also be posted on the Kids’ Lit website." An account from last year's winners is available to read at https://www.kidslitquiz.com/world-final.php

Any local businesses or donations from individuals that would like to contribute towards the cost of the transport for the trip should contact Helen on 017687 71618 or at helenrobinson@keswick.cumbria.sch.uk
