IF you have ever wanted to workout with a friendly bunch while listening to your favourite rock music, now is your time to shine with a pulse-raising training session.

Fitness instructor and private tutor Keri Taylor has become a Rockfit instructor, and rolled it out to the people of west Cumbria.

The high-energy class, which the “first of its kind” to arrive in the county, involve a combination of dance fitness, body-sculpting and toning, all set to a rock and heavy metal soundtrack, made for people who would enjoy rocking their way to a healthier lifestyle.

Bands used to help get people moving and red-faces-all-round include Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Queen and Motley Crue – plenty of groups to ‘Kickstart my Heart’ with.

And 43-year-old Keri is over the moon with how well her launch at Campus Whitehaven went on January 8, which saw her leading a 38-strong sweaty-but-smiling group.

“It felt amazing with so many coming to the launch!” the Workington woman said.

“I had a lot of bookings for future classes afterwards, and I’ve had brilliant feedback.”

Explaining why she decided to set up the classes, Keri said: “The area has classes which involve exercise to dance music, but nothing for rock fans to enjoy their favourite music whilst working out.

“The music [I use] ranges from classic rock to more up-to-date bands – so there’s something in there for everyone!”

While the fitness fanatic is currently holding her classes at 7.30pm every Wednesday in Whitehaven, she has her sights set on taking Rockfit wide throughout the county, with everyone wanting to take part in the fun-filled fitness classes.

“I’m hoping to start holding classes in Workington, Cockermouth and Keswick soon too,” Keri said.
